Dr. Adam Wax makes the case for more widespread use of low-cost OCT at the point of care:

“In most communities, primary eye care providers are optometrists who may not provide OCT imaging because of the cost of a system. Its high price also restricts its availability in developing countries, where the value of clinical OCT is understood yet remains cost-prohibitive.”
